BIOGRAPHY
Wayne is a Gamilaroi/Ucumble/Bidjara man. He works as a Lakes and Wetlands Project Officer in Caloundra the Undanbi, Kabi Kabi, Dulingbara, Dallai & Jinibara region.
Wayne is part of the Sunshine Coast Council initiative that seeks to revive land management and routine traditional culture burns in the area to help revitalise native fire resistant and flourishing flora.
Bassendean in Northern tablelands of New South Wales is Wayne's grandmother's country, hearing of this land's significance and its links to his peoples (Ucumble/Commeroi) past from old ones left a profound mark on him growing up. Wayne's pursuit of his culture led him down his current career path which sees him taking care of country, something which is very close to his heart and allows him to feel linked to his ancestors who were the true custodians and caretakers of this nation.
